I have been planning on attending Toronto’s Veg Food Fest for years now, always interested in any place that offers the chance to try new varieties of food. I have been wanting to go vegetarian for several years now, spurred into the decision to move toward a cruelty-free lifestyle thanks to my friend Alexandria. When 2017 was approaching, I decided that I wanted to be fully vegetarian by the end of 2017. Though I have had some difficulties in maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle living at home, I’ve managed fairly well to do so when eating out and cooking for myself. It’s actually a lot easier than I would have thought, especially with Pinterest offering countless recipes catering to exact dietary needs and desires.
This year, as if by some divine intervention, I had the opportunity to go to the Veg Food Fest not only as a spectator, but as someone able to work one of the best booths.
Vegetarian Gourmet makes — by far — the best certified vegan burgers and marinated tofus that I have ever tasted. Ever. I wasn’t the only one who thought this; it was clear when you could see people pushing their way to the front of the booth to buy the product and swooning over the samples we were setting out every day of the festival.
I swear, the seemingly endless crowds kept us all on our toes making burger after burger and frying up a never ending supply of tofu.
At the end of the weekend, I took home my two favourites: a box of the Spicy Mexican 3 Bean burgers and a package of the Greek Gyro Tofu Creations. I’ll be making meals out of both of these in the coming weeks and sharing pictures on my Instagram account, so be sure to follow for photos and recipes!
X,
Emily
P.S. Toronto friends, Vegetarian Gourmet is coming to Whole Foods this month!!! You can also find them at most health food stores across the GTA.
