The staff greet you with genuine smiles and a friendly demeanour, making you feel like you’re already on holiday—even though you’ve not even left your home airport yet. There’s an unhurried vibe that perfectly sets the tone for your upcoming island escape. Naturally, this continues onto the flight, with flight attendants who are incredibly kind and attentive to passengers, there to help with anything you might need to make your flight as comfortable as possible!
What’s more, KM Malta Airlines offers direct flights to Malta, saving you the hassle of connecting flights. I’m not going to lie, I try to avoid connecting flights as much as possible; direct routes aren’t just a matter of convenience—they mean less time in crowded airports and more time enjoying the journey. Plus, the easy check-in and boarding process with KM Malta Airlines is a dream for those of us who prefer to breeze through the airport rather than linger.
A Smooth, Hassle-Free Airport Experience
One of the highlights of my trip with KM Malta Airlines was just how seamless the entire airport process was. At Milano Linate, checking in was a breeze, even during peak travel hours. For Economy passengers, the process was smooth and efficient. And if you’re flying Business Class, it’s a whole different ball game.
The priority check-in and boarding make you feel like a VIP from the moment you step into the airport; security, baggage drop-off, and even getting through customs felt surprisingly stress-free (a rare thing in today’s travel world). Not only do you have an excess baggage allowance, but you can fast-track through the line and head straight to the incredible lounge before getting on our flight with priority boarding.

The lounge itself—the La Valette VIP Lounge—was impeccable, with a full breakfast buffet, hot and cold drinks, and a number of breads and pastries. I noticed that they even had gluten-free options for people who need it! I got a fruit salad, a couple of mini pastizzi with pea filling, some fresh Maltese bread and butter, a mini quiche, and a mini hummus wrap. Along with this, I had an espresso and, before leaving the lounge to board our plane, I also had a delicious hot chocolate.
While we were enjoying our time in the lounge (both inside or outside on their gorgeous, sunny patio with umbrellas for shade), there were no loud and annoying announcements. Instead, passengers can reference the many screens readily available on the walls to check flight updates like boarding time changes or gate numbers. This was all included in our Business Class ticket, but the good news is that anyone can use the lounge for an extra fee!
What really stood out to me was how KM Malta Airlines has streamlined the entire boarding process. No endless queues, no chaotic rushes to the gate—just a calm, orderly experience that allows you to start your journey on the right foot.

Fast forward to my return flight, and I found myself stepping into Business Class, which was, in a word, divine. Picture this: you’re settling into your seat, which feels more like a cozy armchair than an airplane seat, and the first thing you notice is the extra legroom. If you’re tall—I’m 178 centimetres (about 5 feet 10.5 inches)—not having enough legroom can be the absolute bane of one’s existence, but Business Class on KM Malta Airlines is like a mini vacation in itself. I could almost hear the waves crashing on Malta’s shores as I tasted the olive oil paired with fresh bread along with my salad, and mum enjoyed the Roulade of Salmon with grouper vegetable mousse, olive tapenade, capsicum relish, and a lemon dressing with petit salad.
